A Study on the Formation over Kinmen and Matsu during the Spring
Jiunn-Sheng Lee Shan-Hern Kuo
Abstract
After analysis eight years data we found that in spring the continental migratory highs are often moving over the China East Sea. At that time, the continental cold air will be warmed by Kuroshio Current. After warming process, when air current reach China Coast, its temperature will be warmer than the sea surface temperature then the interaction of warm air and the coast forms sea-fog, which will move over the area of Kinmen and Matsu. In the middle of May, season of May-Yu, the front is quasi-stationary along the coast, then there is a upslop-fog in the area of Kinmen and Matsu. Further later, when “Cold Wave” move southward, it forces mTw moving away from the area of Kinmen and Matsu. Then there is no chance to form fog in Kinmen and Matsu.
In addition to those we found above nine objective prognostic charts of fog formation over Kinmen and Matsu area are also presented in this report.
