A Preliminary Field Study on Winter Monsoon Waves in Taiwan Strait

Abstract

　　Under the support by National Science Council, the Institute of Oceanography NTU., coorperated with Off Shore Petroleum Exploration Division CPC, set wave meter beside their drilling rigs, measuring winter monsoon waves, and find that under steady synoptic pattern, the averaged wind energy transfer coefficents in the middle part of Taiwan Strait are similar. However for ratter higher wave (more than 1.5 meters), the wave height near Penghu is 1.6 times that near Lukang. Because of the scarcity of the observed data, it is necessary to make further nteasurments.
