Aviation Weather Observation System at New Tokyo International Airport
Abstract
Since the purpose of the aviation weather service is to contribute to the safer and more efficient traffic of the aircraft, the required weather information should be observed, analysed and reported as soon and accurate as possible. The modernly designed Aviation Weather Observation System (AWOS) which is presently installed and used in New Tokyo International Airport at Narita is a complete set of the remote senscrs, indicators and recorders for each runway in the airport, The sensors are installed in the field near the runway ends and their extended area except the pressure guage. The indicators, re.orders and signal converters are mounted on the panel of standard size which are installed in the cabinet housing. There are three kinds of apparatus in the system:
1) Central weather information collection apparatus in the weather observation station.
2) Signal receiving and conversion apparatus in the equipmentroom.
3) Branch information apparatus at the remote rooms such as the weather forecasting room, tower and airlines offices.
