Analysis and Prediction of Tropical Cyclone Intensities Based on Satellite Pictures

Abstract

　　A detailed technique developed originally by NESS for the analysis and forecasting of tropical cyclones by using satellite pictures alone is described. Its main purpose is to identify the past and current intensities of typhoons so that the prediction may be made by means of a model in code form. Relevant terms in satellite meteorology about tropical cyclones are introduced and well illustrated in the last part of this paper.
