A Discussion of Typhoons in the Northwest Pacific Area in 1973
Franz W.C. Yeh
Abstract
Among the 21 Typhoons developed in northwest Pacific in 1973 only 4 influnced Taiwan by their outer circulation. None of them attacked Taiwan directly. The interesting things of this Typhoon season are: a. None of the Typhoons occured before June; b. Due to the relatively low Position of subtropical anticyclone none of them developed in the area of Caroline Islands where generally is the major source of Typhoons in the considered region; and c. The far north invasion of some of those Typhoons are very Special, too.
In this work we presented a general description of Typhoon tracks, emphasises are on the 4 Typhoons: Wilda, Dot, Joan and Nora, which influenced Taiwan area.
