A-1航路台北至馬公冬季亂流之初步研究

Abstract

  Analyzing 1859 flight – reports of the 1973 – 78 winter season between Taipei and Makung on the air way A-1, there were 275 flights encountered the atmospheric turbulence ( including 191 flights — — choppy or light turbulence, 74 flights — — moderate turbulence and 10 flights — — severe turbulence ).
  The results show that the probability of the turbulence occurrence :

  1. is increasing when the aircraft descending from Makung to Taipei.
  2. is increasing in the high level, but not in the low level ( below 10,000 ft ), when the subtropic jet stream moving south from higher latitudes to Taiwan.
  3. is larger in Taiwan than in higher latitude area, when the turbulence occurred by the horizontal wind shear.

  The results also indicate the condition of the moderate and severe turbulence occurrence is the horizontal wind shear more than 14 kt/lat. ( deg ) or the vertical wing shear more than 8 kt/1000 ft.
