We first present the unusual warming in the mid-troposphere together with the occurrence of jet streams in the middle and lower troposphere and the intermediate seale waves right above surface layer of cold air in the south China and Taiwan, during January 16-22,1978. It is found that all these phenomena were mutually correlated, and occurred under the situation of the deep cold air outbreak. The second topic in this report is to compare the large-scale circulation pattern of the extremely dry March in 1977 and that of the extremely wet March in 1978 in Taiwan. It is found that the subtropical Pacific high was located to the south of Taiwan in the wet season and over Taiwan in the dry season.
